L.Y.F. (Lutheran Youth @ Foothills - pronounced "LIFE"), is a lively group of Grade 7-12s from both sites, whose purpose statement is: LYF in Christ grows by GIVING of ourselves, developing RELATIONSHIPS with others, reaching OUT to all, WORSHIPPING with joy and STUDYING God's Word.

Our theme verse is Ephesians 4:16: "From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."

Our five purposes (service, fellowship, evangelism, worship and study of God's Word) are reflected in all we do. Our youth group meets two-three times a month for a fun event or a servant event. Past activities have included gym nights, scavenger hunts, prayer walks, movie & chat nites, paintball, Love Your Parents Banquet, helping pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child and of course our annual Ultimate Survivors Youth Retreat. Our youth also attend National and District youth gatherings held by our church. Check out the youth page for more info on upcoming events!

Bible study is an important part of what we do. Sunday morning youth Bible studies are held at both sites. At FLC, there is a Junior Youth Bible Study (grades 7 & 8) and a Senior Youth Bible Study (grades 9-12) that meet at 9:15 am. At FLM, there is a Youth Bible Study that meets at 9:45 am (9:15 am during November 2004). In addition to Sunday morning studies, we encourage youth to meet during the week.

Confirmation Instructions

Confirmation instruction is a full two year program that prepares youth (generally grade 8 and 9 students) for the rite of confirmation. Confirmation is an opportunity for youth to confess their faith publicly before God and the church and to confirm the vows that were spoken in their stead at their baptism. This prepares them to participate in the Lord's Supper.

In year one of confirmation, an overview of Bible history is taught weekly on Tuesday evenings with classes running around one hour and 15 minutes. An overnight confirmation retreat is held at the beginning of September. In year two, a study of the chief teachings of the church as presented in Luther's Small Catechism is taught using a mixture of retreats and monthly classes.

Throughout their confirmation experience, class members are also asked to take turns serving as acolytes for Sunday Morning Worship Services.

Please speak to the pastor in regard to adult confirmation as he offers a shorter course a couple of time through out the year.
