I've been so tardy at posting choir updates this year.  Better late than never!  We started our 2013/14 season with a few new members. We always praise God for new voices!

We received a heartfelt resignation letter in the summer from our Director, Chad.  We learned a lot and really enjoyed our time with Chad. We appreciate all the time and effort organizing our Spring Concerts and various other concerts, including live musicians, during his time with us.

Pastor Bode stepped up to the plate to direct the choir until a new choir director is found.  God has blessed us with a multi-talented pastor and we seems to have become a cohesive group under his direction this season.

With Easter on the way, and much to reflect on during the Lenten season, our Wednesday evening practices will be filled with penitent music and then songs to celebrate the gift we have been given in Jesus Christ.

We are always happy to have new voices join the choir.  Practice is Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m.

Spring Concert - Foothills Favourites, by L. Brookwell

We celebrated four years under the direction of Chad Utke by performing a Spring Concert on Sunday evening, June 2nd, 2013.   “Foothills Favourites”, a collection of meaningful worship songs that the choir members loved to sing, was well-received by a fairly large and appreciative audience/congregation.  Chad invited the congregation to suggest their favorite hymns as well and we joyously sang together “Amazing Grace” and “Beautiful Saviour”.

A few comments from attendees:

“I wanted to reiterate everything you've already heard about the choir's performance on Sunday. You guys have never sounded better.  A few songs into your performance mom said you should take it on the road.  I know that's lots of work , but I think it speaks to the quality of your work.  It was so nice to sing Beautiful Savior in honor of Bob and Ruth. I know there were lots of heavenly eavesdroppers for that performance! I wish I could say it better, but well done good and faithful servants"

plus:

20 voices: angelic

16 songs: inspirational!

8 piece orchestra: awesome!

1 conductor to bring it home: PRICELESS!!!

Outstanding concert tonight Chad....best the FLC choir has ever sounded!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!

All glory be to our God!

by L. Brookwell

We've begun our new year of practicing and singing and worshiping with music, led by our capable director, Chad.   We eagerly welcomed two new choir members into the choir loft!

We were excited when Chad announced that our church will be hosting the Rocky Mountain College choir for a performance on March 17th.   Our own choir will join en mass for two selections.
Everyone is welcome to attend for an afternoon of praising our Lord with song.  Further details to come.

A Spring Concert is also in the works, God willing. A tentative date has been set for May 24th.  Our dedicated accompaniest, Connie, has suffered a serious eye condition and we are praying that God will heal her, and provide us with an accompaniest in the meantime.  Erna has offered her time and talent in the interim, for which we are grateful.

In January, fourteen of us had the privilege of singing at the bedside of our devoted choir member, Ruth Ring. Ruth has been singing as an alto in Foothills Lutheran Church choir for over  35 years. She has been a steadfast supporter of the choir and has been an inspiration to me, personally.  She and her husband Gary have graciously hosted us for choir functions numerous times over the years, which we have always enjoyed and appreciated.  Ruth went to heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 13th.  We were blessed to spend that special time at her bedside, singing her favorite hymns.

Isaiah 51:3

The Lord will surely comfort Zion
and will look with compassion on all her ruins;
he will make her deserts like Eden,
her wastelands like the garden of the Lord.
Joy and gladness will be found in her,
thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
