  Our Latest Service Plans

Posted: June 12, 2020 by David Bode

AN UPDATE ON OUR IN-PERSON WORSHIP: One of the realities of the whole COVID-19 pandemic is that everything we know has changed, and everything we plan is always subject to change. That is true for our plans here at the church as well.

We feel that the 9:00 am service has not been serving our people well. We began this anticipating that as people returned, we would need to have 2 services to accommodate our members and still maintain social distancing. That may still be true, but at present, we have far more capacity than attendance.

The Elders have re-evaluated our present service routine and have adopted the following schedule:

Beginning Sunday, August 2nd, we will have one Sunday service at 10:15 am. This will be available as an in-person service. We will no longer have members register, which means we have to work on the spot to make the best use of available space. We would benefit from the help of several members to serve as hosts in this way. When you come to the service:

  • All members will sign in at the Reception station.
  • Ushers will seat members.
  • In accordance with the new city bylaw, masks will be required for all worshippers.

A cantor or small cohort of cantors will be used for the singing of hymns and songs. The hymns will still be projected, but people will be asked not to sing.

As we believe that we have solved the streaming issues this service will also be streamed live. We are looking into better equipment to assist with our live-stream and avoid technical issues.

The one part of the service that will not be streamed is the distribution of Holy Communion. This will be held as part of the in-person services according to our regular Communion schedule. Private / individual communion appointments will still be available as requested.

We are eager to have members back together. God calls us to be a communion of saints. Yet we remind you that we are called to care for one another body and soul. Our screening will remind you that you should not attend if you have you returned from travel outside Canada within the last 14 days; if you have had close contact with or cared for someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days; if you have been in close contact with anyone who has travelled outside Canada within the last 14 days; or if you have experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms in the last 14 days (to include fever, cough, sore throat, respiratory illness, difficulty breathing) If the answer is “yes” to any of the questions, access to worship cannot be granted at this time.

We continue to pray that God, in His grace, would allow us to return to the joy of worship together and fellowship together as His people, through Jesus Christ!
