May 19, 2024 – That’s Real Power in the Heavens!

Pentecost Sunday (Series B) – Ephesians 3:16-21

Sky-gazers can look up and be amazed at the power that exists in the heavens. But comets and asteroids, solar storms or even supernovas are nothing compared to the power from the heavens that we remember today. On a Pentecost Sunday, in the same year that our Lord rose from the dead, our world was hit by a power far greater than a colliding asteroid; a power far greater than anything our world has ever known. On that Pentecost Sunday, some 2000 years ago, God, the Holy Spirit came mightily into our world—not with a destructive power, but with a life-giving, life saving power. And today, on this Pentecost Sunday we want to celebrate and rejoice in the Holy Spirit and the heavenly power He brings that has changed the world, the church, and even us, for all time.
