August 20, 2023 – No, Nothing Has Changed
Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 15-A) – Matthew 15:21–28
In Jesus’ encounter with a Canaanite woman, we see something we often feel. Even though we know that God is a God of love and mercy, and even though we have no reason to doubt this, I think that even the greatest of Christians has wondered at some time in their lives, does God really want to help me? Or is he going to put me off, like he did the Canaanite woman? Yet even in the darkness moments, we can be sure that nothing has changed and that God is still ready, eager and willing to help His people. He will always answer the faithful prayers of His people.
